I have to admit- I didn't have high expectations for the effectiveness of this, not because it was from Miss A, but because products like this usually don't perform very well due to the nature of the product itself. But I have to say, this Hair Root Powder was actually really good at what it was supposed to do. And of course you can't beat the price!
I have naturally black hair. I am graying at the roots. I haven't touched up my roots in awhile, so I have at least half an inch of gray showing. I work from home, so, at times, I need to engage in periodic Zoom calls throughout the day. If I have not managed to get to a root touch up, my gray hairs, which are really very white/silver, show up during those calls. Some months, I don't have a lot of Zoom calls at all; some, I do. This touch-up powder is really handy to have around for the times that I do have a lot of calls.
Society, I have found, is kinder to you if you present a more youthful appearance. I'm not trying to start anything- it's just what I have observed. Which is why I ordered the AOA Root Color Powder.
The color component of the product is a sort of a highly pigmented waxy compacted powder that is in the top, or the cap, of the product. There is a nice dense domed foam applicator that screws into the top of the cap where the powder is. When it is screwed in, it is in contact with the powder, so it gets a load of product on it that you can then use to apply to your roots.
There was a learning curve in using this product- for me, anyway. I loaded up the sponge with pigment, and then tried tapping it on my roots. That got some color on those unruly white hairs, but not enough to cover them. I found the most effective way to cover my roots was to press the applicator into the front of my hairline, and then, still pressing as I pushed the applicator toward the crown of my scalp in sort of long painterly strokes, to apply it to my roots in this way. I got quite a bit of product onto my skin in front of my hairline, but that didn't matter, as it wiped off easily with a tissue.
I always do a test Zoom call to check on how a new cosmetics product is looking. This Root Color Powder looked awesome. Not only was it convincingly (and quickly) hiding my super-shiny silver hairs, but the product wasn't obvious on the hair. It has a very matte finish, so it didn't stand out in any way. Those gleaming white hairs blended right into the black. You couldn't even tell they were there! And it washed right out, and doesn't stain.
If I used this product every day, I don't know how long it would last, but as it is yet another fantastically priced product from Miss A that has amazing quality for its price, I can afford to re-stock any time. I'm really glad I found this Color Powder, and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick root touch-up that is both convincing to the eye and easy to use.
